Blows new life into theater on the market. The Markttheater does not breathe life into theater on the market. Performances are played in the middle of market squares in Amsterdam and Rotterdam for diverse audiences. Performances are created from fresh material based on improvisations, journalistic research, collaborations and an anarchistic approach. Het Markttheater makes popular theater about small troubles and big politics, about local stories to the absurdity of existence. From the home on the Dappermarkt, connections are made with the neighborhood and projects germinate.

Board
As of 2017, Het Markttheater is a foundation with board members being: Jochum Veenstra (chairman), Imad Qaddour (treasurer) and Jelle Piersma (secretary). The day-to-day management is carried out by Sean Hauser and Justin van der Veen.

Stichting Het Markttheater has been classified by the tax authorities as a General Beneficial Institution and Cultural Institution. This means that extra tax benefits are possible for donations to Het Markttheater Foundation.

Objective of Het Markttheater Foundation
The purpose of the foundation is: promoting (or having promoted) all types of performance and performing arts. The performance of all further actions, which are related to the above in the broadest sense or are conducive to it. The foundation tries to achieve its goal by programming and facilitating performing arts and producing performing arts.
Compensation Policy
The board shall receive no compensation for the work or expenses incurred for their board duties. Members of the executive board may receive compensation for activities assigned to them by the board other than managing the foundation. The amount of compensation for daily board members is determined by the board through the annual budget or project budgets. The CAO Theater is used as a guideline for this. This CLA is also used as a guideline for other project staff.
Annual reports and financial statements
In the financial statements you will find a comprehensive overview of the financial aspects of the foundation, including board, staff, income and other costs, as well as an overview of the realized income and revenue and how they have been used for the objective. In the annual report – published separately – a comprehensive report of the activities carried out.
